The Yves Saint Laurent & Pierre Bergés Fondation is a must-see for all fashion fanatics. At the time I was there, the Hedi Silmane ‘Sonic’ exhibition was taking place. The exhibit depicted pictures from a 90s grunge era with a musical influence from rock artists like Keith Richards, Amy Winehouse & Lou Reed. Afterwards, our tour guide took us upstairs, past Pierre Bergés office, and through the doors of (what used to be) Yves Saint Laurent’s studio space. Incredible YSL haute couture gowns were on display. His office space is covered in fashion books, rolls of fabrics, certificates & achievements, and famous personal photographs, as if he were there everyday. I felt like I was standing on royal grounds; it was the room where his most famous couture designs were created. The illumination of the room added to the breathtaking atmosphere and even gave the garments on the mannequins a special glow.
