Jeanne Lanvin Exhibition, Palais Galleria

For the first time, Palais Galleria is paying tribute to Jeanne Lanvin, the great designer and  founder of the oldest fashion house in France. Curated by Oliver Saillard in collaboration with Alber Elbaz, the artistic director of Lanvin, this showcase features over 100 garments from various collections. The entire show explores Jeanne Lanvin’s artistry as a designer: from her iconic mother/daughter logo to the reason behind the dark colors and silhouettes she used. Mirrored reflections of various garments are used to give visitors a closer and unique view of Lanvin’s creations.

The most mesmerizing part of the exhibition were the pieces with beautiful and detailed embroidery and beading. It makes one wonder how long it took for Lanvin to create such alluring garments. As most designers of her time, she started her career designing hats but never took inspiration from the current fashion trends. Her main source of inspiration was her daughter…
